A New Short Poem

ArtMatters

Recommended Posts

I feel like behind that smile

The sparkling, polished exterior

The warmth and the kind

Behind the tangible parts

Deep down…

deep deep down

Hidden behind the now,

Closer to the then

Lies a secret hurt

An injured, crippled fawn

Whimpering in fear

Crying a single baby deer tear

And wondering where things went wrong

And I just want to reach in and hold it,

Make it a tiny sandwich,

Clean up the wreckage

So it doesn’t have to sit there

And replay the trauma

And I just want to tell it

The injured deer’s grow up strong dear

Oh dear, oh deer

The injured deer’s grow up strong

"I want to reach in and hold and tend to that young deer too"

But, too late, it's on the Barbie!!

Yeah, that's lovely and all, but I take your point about the Sandwich.....I mean, after all, it's damaged right, so better a sandwich, cooked on the Barbie, than a feast for one of those American Eagles and all, I mean..................... how cruel is that, letting Nature take it's course??...........unless you are a Canadian Baby Seal, in which case, forget the fuckin Deer, we are having our heads caved in because we eat too much fish!!....ah, Nature.....lovely to look at.....too expensive to keep more than a week!!

Canada....home of the..................................(fill in the Blank)s....... and defender of the (fill in the blanks)..............

Perspective and collective.....can't have one without the other!! :)
