Katherine
Ok, I did one of those online personality disorder tests last night (when I was bored cos the forums were down! ) And this is what I came up with... Paranoid: Moderate Schizoid: Moderate Schizotypal: Moderate Antisocial: Low Borderline: Moderate Histrionic: High Narcissistic: Moderate Avoidant: High Dependent: Very High Obsessive-Compulsive: Low Well, slightly puzzled that I didn't come out as BPD this time round. Despite my -abandonment anxieties -black and white thinking especially in relationships -depression and anxiety (fairly constant though, rather than mood swings) -feelings of emptiness -paranoia and ---definitely--- Dissociation Which IS indeed 5 out of the 9... Still, the Dependent makes sense, described as : "Dependent Dependent personality disorder is characterized by a need to be taken care of. People with this disorder tend to cling to people and fear losing them. They may become suicidal when a break-up is imminent. They tend to let others make important decisions for them and often jump from relationship to relationship. They often remain in abusive relationships. They are overly sensitive to disapproval. They often feel helpless and depressed." That is me alright. Well, the wanting to be taken care of, clinging, fear of loss, feeling suicidal when separated, very sensitive to disapproval, helplessness, depression.... Being high for Aviodant makes sense too - "Avoidant Avoidant personality disorder is characterized by extreme social anxiety. People with this disorder often feel inadequate, avoid social situations, and seek out jobs with little contact with others. They are fearful of being rejected and worry about embarassing themselves in front of others. They exaggerate the potential difficulties of new situations to rationalize avoiding them. Often, they will create fantasy worlds to substitute for the real one. Unlike schizoid personality disorder, avoidant people yearn for social relations yet feel they are unable to obtain them. They are frequently depressed and have low self-confidence." I am anxious around people socially. I feel inadequete and afraid of rejection, I have many inner fantasies of my ideal life. I do yearn for relationships and am depressed with not a lot of confidence. The being high for histrionic doesn't make sense though---"Histrionic People with histrionic personality disorder are constant attention seekers. They need to be the center of attention all the time, often interrupting others in order to dominate the conversation. They use grandiose language to discribe everyday events and seek constant praise. They may dress provacatively or exaggerate illnesses in order to gain attention. They also tend to exaggerate friendships and relationships, believing that everyone loves them. They are often manipulative. " Well, I LIKE quality attention...I often need it (having had a deficit of it for so many years)and I DO seek praise. But I DON'T dress provocatively at all, and I DON'T believe everyone loves me. Perhaps this is tha fantasy personality of my inner toddler self??Because I have always been shy and introverted and withdrawn. Well, after looking at all this, and making a little list that ran like this- I am--Dependent, Avoidant, Borderline, PTSD, Anxiety Disordered, Panic Disordered, Depressed....it became rather like mental illness soup----all churned together, which is actually rather good, because it loosened up the severity of the self labelling.. ...So I then decided to write THIS list, to balance it out--- I am--Sensitive, Insightful, Empathic, Sincere, Creative, Courageous and Brave, Inwardly Strong, Intelligent, Compassionate, Organised, Focused, Aware- and I do have a sense of humour.. It's important to me to share this with you all. lorna

Lauren
grrrr lol Every time I take that test the results allways come out fairly different. Though the highs are mostly schizoeffective and borderline which I am diagnosed with. It also shows high on narcisstic (which really isnt me lol) and low on compulsive. Lol, hang on let me take it again.

Katherine
lady M, I now don't own up to my sensitivity to others and to atmospheres etc on that test, cos they class 'psychic' as unreal thinking and a sign of disorder which it isn't! lorna
LadyMacbeth
Yeah thats silly cause I have had premonitions in my dreams I do not think I am psychic but I can't control my dreams can I.

lille_eskimit
I took the same test slightly more than a year ago, and again just now...I think it hasn't changed all that much: Paranoid: Very High Schizoid: Moderate Schizotypal: Very High Antisocial: High Borderline: Very High Histrionic: Very High Narcissistic: High Avoidant: Very High Dependent: Very High Obsessive-Compulsive: High I must say that I never did think I had dependency issues...I don't really have a problem being alone (indeed, I sometimes even enjoy it), as long as I believe I am loved, and that there are people I can reach whenever I need help...But then again, I suppose that could be classed as being indirectly dependent.
pinklady66
Hi Lorna: Where is this site? I would find it interesting to see what it says. Thanks.... :)
lille_eskimit
It seems so paradoxical that I should show traits of an extremely Avoidant personality, and yet Histronic at the same time...Being an attention-seeking exhibitionist, who also shies away from the company of others, in favour of solitude! I just don't get it... :o
LadyMacbeth
The only one I am taking seriously is the Borderline cause I was diagnosed with it and paranoia and maybe avoidant cause I know I am those things. The other ones I think are bollocks!

lauren18808
I did that test quite a while ago, it was interesting, and fairly accurate in terms of describing my personality, but I dunno, It's a multiple choice test. I've never been one for those telling me anything about myself, apart from when they help me blag good grades in exams. *shrug*
