When people are ill it is natural to feel helpless as to how to help them best, however you are doing all you can right now - so look after you and do not be too hard on yourself. At least we know she's in hospital, thus 'safe', and we also know the idiocy of having to forego 'privileges', period, let alone while under any kind of observation.
