mrs tree Posted July 30, 2006 Report Share Posted July 30, 2006 Aliyou have to work within your limitations...There are a million reasons why she hasn't got in touch not all of them black...You have to give her space to recover and let her do things at her won pace...You don't live in the same country so there is little you can do....You need to start thinking of your friendship with her in realistic terms she will be under the care of the hospital or other agency on her return home and someone who is in more of a position to help if necessary will be there. It sounds really hard for you to control, like a childs panic. i guess i asked because i have attatchment issues, to a child part of my personality, but for me that is only 1 part, and hard to cope with, but i wonder how you feel if you live with this intense panic all the time as an adult. Tabitha Posted August 3, 2006 Report Share Posted August 3, 2006 i'm sorry you feel this awful panic, i relate to it in terms of i use to feel it as a child with my mum, constant fear of her leaving, dying, taking over my whole thinking. i get exactly the same if i form a close attatchment with that part of my personality and it feels hysterical and out of control, thankfully most of my attatchements are adult ones, but it sounds a real issue and could be hard for steph or anyone to cope with as they will no doubt feel suffocated. i realise that the panic is awful, but try to think rational that stef is safe and would value your friendship when she is able to get herself together, she is unlikely to die, and you will only lose the friendship if the intensity becomes overbearing which i know is not what you want, its the thing you most fear so try and keep calm hugs Tabi Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
