Show Your Support for National Stress Øut Week – From Your Own Home!

Mark Your Calendars for a House Party the Week of November 12-18

Throw a House Party and Make a Difference!

We need your help to raise awarness of anxiety disorders! A Stress Free House Party is an easy way to help the cause from your own home. Contact Francine Greenberg at 240-485-1016 for more information and to get your free House Party Kit.

Stressed out? Then take five - and support National Stress Øut Week. Take a moment for yourself and relax with family and friends. Five can go a long way - five minutes, five deep breaths, five loved ones to spend time with - in helping reduce the stress of daily life. We all have stress, but it is important to learn how to cope with it and understand the difference between everyday stress and anxiety and an anxiety disorder. And that's the goal of National Stress Øut Week, brought to you by the Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA).

What better time to connect with loved ones and de- stress together than during this week, November 12-18, 2006? The ADAA works to make the public aware that anxiety disorders are real, serious and treatable throughout the week and year-round, but the most effective way to educate people and generate support for our cause is still on a personal level. That’s where you can help – by throwing a Stress Free House Party and helping to raise awareness about anxiety disorders and donations for the cause! ADAA will provide you with a free House Party Kit. The kit can help you and your guests begin your relaxing evening. As a thank you, party hosts will also get a free copy of their choice of self-help books: Triumph Over Fear, Triumph Over Shyness, or Peace of Mind Prescription.

Simply invite five (or more or less!) family and friends to your house one day or evening during the week of November 12-18. Notify the ADAA of your event and we will send a package of favors that will help you and your guests:

Take time for tea with Tension Tamer, Chamomile and Pepperment varieties (courtesy of supporters Celestial Seasonings and Stash Tea)

Splurge a little with your choice of Truffle Brownie mix, pumpkin-flavored mixes and other treats

Remember to relax with help from wallet-sized tip cards offering quick suggestions for reducing everyday stress and anxiety

Lose some stress with stress balls featuring inspirational messages

Work out work stress with a “cheat sheet” offering easy ways to beat job-related stress

Show support for the cause with Triumph wristbands

Learn the difference between normal anxiety and anxiety disorders with educational brochures explaining what anxiety disorders are, how to seek help and how to help a loved one.

A house party can be as small or as large as you wish. Here are some easy suggestions:

• Hold a potluck dinner, with everyone bringing one dish. Click here to find potluck recipes from Better Homes & Gardens.

• Throw an "Apple-a-Day," fall-themed party with apple cider, crisp apples and cheese on the menu.

• Have an appetizer or dessert party. Click here for quick and easy appetizer recipes and here for dessert recipes.

• Screen a movie that features a character with an anxiety disorder for your guests, such as What About Bob? or As Good As It Gets. Click here to read About.com's "Top 10 Film Characters with Anxiety Disorders."

During your party, simply collect a small donation from each of your guests on behalf of the ADAA and you can make a difference in improving the lives of the 40 million Americans with anxiety disorders! ADAA will provide you with a party sign-in sheet with an attached envelope where guests can make their donations. These donations will help advance research, provide resources for education and treatment and connect those who suffer from anxiety disorders to the help they need.

Simply email ADAA’s Francine Greenberg at fgreenberg@adaa.org to request your free house party package and for more details. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with anxiety disorders!
