Micheal
Hi all I wrote this poem quite a long time ago and I just figured maybe some of you might like toread it? For me it's mainly about guilt and gender. He hid his bodywhile I held his coat. Inoticed the rain splashing his tattooed shoulders.

kissprudence
Okay Mikey, no laughing please! I wrote this during one of my spells in hospital. Oh, the fun!The Matter Of Lady GreyIt is grey in here I have noticedYears ago I used to see grey things differentlyElephantsThey were greyYet leathery at the same timeThere is leather hereOn the outsideBut no drynessJust damp and too absorbantIt is dull and soft and hard and coldAnd so very greyMy carpet was grey onceI rememberMy room was an explosion of colour Over a grey carpet in a dark houseMy lilac walls used to shoutAt the darknessBut there are no longer lilacs hereOnly nightshadesHiding within the grey"What's the matter?"Because now I am the oneWho is shoutingOkay, that's it. My mother is doing an MA in poetry, so I am well aware of how lacking in form it is, etc. But it's good to let stuff out without having to worry about poetic form! It's too restricting otherwise! Hope you don't hate it and think I'm an idiot. My god, how insecure am I????!!!!!!Sorry.Ahhh! Now the apologies have started! Bugger! KPxx*KP scurries back under table and growls quietly... Micheal
KP, you brave little bunny! What a sweet poem, have u got any more..? U r more ambitious than me in terms of poem length, i don't usually venture past about 10 lines! Howabout putting a full stop somewhere in the middle? I felt like I needed to park-up someplace aroundthere, get my breath back like? Poetry is very hard isn't it, is your mum a boffin? :)
kissprudence
Hello Michael! How's the digging (avatar!) coming along? Now THERE'S a poem! "Digging" by Seamus Heaney. It's the best! Look it up if you ever get the chance! Thanks for nice comments! I'm not a fan of punctuation, simply because I am very lazy and love freestyle! No, forget the freestyle, I'm just lazy! But I shall try to throw in the odd comma and semi-colon in my next poem just for you!Yes, my mother is the boffin of all boffins when it comes to poetry! Especially the really complicated kind that makes NO sense to me whatsoever! She's brilliant though - it's definitely a special talent!KPxx

kissprudence
hey KP yes i remember digging (ha ha) i like the dr kerlin's bag one he did in electric light? Hi Michael,I know, the one about the doctor who brings babies into the world? My mother is a total Seamus Heaney NUT! And she's completely in love with Ted Hughes, which is sad because he died a few years ago. Don't you think Sylvia Plath just had to be a borderline? The whole marriage seemed to be full of problems, and she tried to kill herself when she was a teenager, before she even met him. Anyway, tra la la!Enough happy talk from me!Would love to hear another one of your poems sometime!Don't worry if they're short - I'm pretty dense when it comes to poetry, so the short ones tend to be easier for me to stay focused on! Otherwise I lose it halfway through! Pathetic I know! I'm more of a literature freak I suppose! I'm a huge DH Lawrence fan, but that's because he was obviously an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person - read the Elain N Aron book!). He sends me into a wonderful trance! Okay, that's enough waffling from me!Take care,KPxx
