The Positives From Suffering Mental Illness

So sure we all know that most the time its a load of b*ll s**t.

But I know there is positives to it. Those talents and traits that wouldnt exist or would be no where near as tuned if it wasnt for your past struggles.

So heres a few I can think of right now.

* Great compassion.

*An ability to read the slightest change in a persons moods/feelings.

* Often very talented in one of the arts.

* A high intellect appears more often in those inflicted with MI.

*An ability to laugh at ourself's.

*An ability to see the smallest glimpse of something good or amazing.

Feel free to add more! :)

I can add to that from what I see in myself and from what I can see from some of you.

*We have the ability to feel the pain of others

*We desire to help others because we know how it feels when people care.

*Honestly and loyalty

*Intelligence

*Expressive especially in art and writing.

*The ability to understand our emotions.

*The desire to feel normal

* (Like you expressed Lorna) Compassion

I always get told that I don't think outside of the box so much as the box I think in hasn't been identified yet. So I would like to add that we have the ability to provide a unique perspective to all the wonderful things already written.

I agree with all of those - especially **An ability to see the smallest glimpse of something good or amazing**

- I think thier is a higher standing for Compassion/Love/Feelings in a person with a MI.

- I also know that without my MI I wouldnt LIVE IN THE MOMENT AND APPRECIATE EVERY MOMENT - (this has come with Dbt trianing)

**good post- im looking forward to seei g what other say**
