Never-ending Cliff Face

Never ending cliff face

I stand on a ledge of a cliff face,

the trecherous cliff face of life.

Where the waves crash loudly beneath me

and the wind cuts through like a knife.

We start when we're born at the bottom

and without knowing it start to ascend.

We fall many times during our life time

and on it's ledges depend.

When you look up, you can not see it's top,

but you can see the rocks below.

This perilous journey of life,

that we all have to undergo.

At times it seems easier to fall,

to walk to the edge and just jump.

But whoever said this would be easy,

just because no-one warned it would be tough.

But just as we sit and grow despondant,

we see another break in the cliff.

It's only a little bit farther,

you feel sure you can make it to this.

Aching and panting you collapse,

on this new ledge to rest for a time.

It's only when you peer over the edge,

that you realise just how far you've climbed.

With this new found sense of achievement,

you find the perseverance to plough through.

But what if you stumble and fall?

Will you find the strength to start anew?

It matters not, how many times you fall,

or even how far up you get.

But rather how many times you've picked yourself up,

and pushed on in any respect.

Because no matter how far up you climb,

remember this instead:

'There'll always be a low flying seagull,

to knock you off that bloody ledge!'

I love it, just my sense of humour!

Could I post this somewhere else if I give you credit for it please? Even though the end is humorous the content is a good analogy of life and I think also inspiring. I know some people on another forum that would really appreciate this poem.
