A Little Girl

Recommended Posts

I see a little girl,

Sitting alone on the stair,

She sits very quietly,

No one knows she is there.

She listens to the noises,

Of the various sounds downstairs,

The world going on around her,

As if she’s not there.

She creeps back to her room

And lies on her bed.

The dreams and fantasies of a brave new world

Whizz around in her head.

She dreams she is flying,

She believes she is loved,

She soars high and free,

To the castle above.

He comes to her door,

He lets himself in,

He lies down beside her,

Skin against skin.

He asks her to dance for him,

To do what he says,

To cuddle ad touch him,

He loves her, he says.

And as he enters inside her,

She feels the weight of him grow,

She sees herself floating,

And looks down on them below.

He’s finished, he leaves.

The door shuts again.

She knows he’ll return.

She just doesn’t know when.

Years later she found him,

The knight she’d searched for,

The person to love her,

The man she could adore.

So why now does he hurt me?

Why does he cause her so much pain?

Why is her life a mistake?

Why does it go wrong again?

Is she destined to do this?

To go round and round,

To be oh so quiet,

To not make a sound?

You see she did realise,

A long time ago,

That she’ll never be loved,

You see she did know.

I mean who could want her?

She’s ugly and fat.

She’s from tainted stock.

I mean, who would want that?

She feels so alone now,

The pain no one sees,

They just see my problems,

I want someone to see me.

I see a young woman now,

Sitting alone on the stair,

She sits there so quietly,

No one still knows she’s there.
