sorry this has happend

admire your attitude

find it very disconcerting that we are expected to trust the pdocs/t with our lives almost, and yet it seems these d*cks cant/wont trust them

very scary system

we live in fear of it

we had to do pathways 2 yrs ago

omg

sweet woman but total waste of time with her

and helpful comments (she was v depressed and lots of family probs - yes she told me)

like

'im not one of those who sits around doing nothing'

yeah

thanks for that, helped loads

really do hope all the best for you in this

I know what you mean - it is sort of 'help' at the end of a pointy stick isnt it? TBH I would rather cut the Job Centre out of the equation as much as possible - I know some of them mean well, but they just arent in a position to do much unless their branch has some decent pathways contracts in place. Mine doesnt, so most of what they offer is just lip service.

Sorry you have been thru same poopie experience though.

Ross

pls ask for a copy of your report just to check it out for errors - Id hate you to not have ESA if you should.

Also did you send letters from psych, gp etc with your form?

I know you wanna move on and be positive but the system sucks and I did so much research on this stuff and just want to be sure I look out for my mates.

OK will ask them :)

No I didnt send letters or anything, I just said exactly what I said at the last one I had. The woman seemed really sympathetic, she even tried to help me when I cried. The fact I said the same things, even that I burst into tears, just tells me one thing: They have moved the criteria cut offs, so according to the old system I am not capable for work, and with this one I am. Thats why I am just loathe to get into any kind of questioning or appeal - its just more stress that I know I cant do anything about. I think I would just rather go looking for work with a sense of relative peace, rather than doing that whilst also getting my stomach tied in knots over whether to appeal and having arguments and things.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I have been waiting for this to happen for so long, and expected this outcome, that TBH I just feel like "screw it, go along with it". Know you mean well though, it is appreciated :)

Good that you can embark in a bit of retail therapy :D and that was really nice of your T. I actually know a few people who work in your industry... they're mostly document people but if you wanted I could ask if there are any spots for your line of work? If that's what you're planning on pursuing, and if you want of course. Just an offer :)

Oo what do you mean by document people? I guess the areas I am looking to go into would be something Junior in mechanical engineering, but would most like to go into engineering design. The requirements for the latter are a bit catch 22 though - you need experience before they will employ you and I don't tick all the boxes :( Not badly off for the former though ...

Didnt go and buy trousers in the end, decided to go for a walk :)

Where did you walk to? :D bit wet for it :)

Documenty people in the oil industry. I dunno what they do, I just imagine they sit rolling around on oil drums all day. I don't know if they could have any contacts but if they did and there was some kind of niche for you to pop into with an application, I could let you know if you wanted me to enquire.

That would be lovely, thank you very much for the offer :) Don't feel obliged or duty bound though ....

Documentey people rolling on barrels lol. I want that job  Re walking, I just went up the road to the golf course (Hazlehead) and back. Didnt rain so much here, so was ok.

Hi Bumble

I will have a look at that, Shaw Trust :) Thank you for the vote of confidence  I'm not sure if this is strength or just it hasnt hit me yet ... I have been sort of preparing for it for a while, knew it was coming from October when they announced they would be 'reviewing' incapacity benefit, so i think there is almost a part of me thats relieved its over and done with.

I'd be happy to :) I shall make my enquries once my friend stops rolling around on his drum.

It was raining massively when I went out to put the rubbish out earlier on. I think the weather here just hates me <_<

OK - dont want to add to your stress.

Just another site I belong to said that without doc letters you are whistling to the wind cos they dont ask for them, you have to give them to them - even tho it clearly says on the form not to send letters!!!!

However my doc-person said it was the letters wot done it!!!!

Just wanted to say for you but also for others going thro this poopie experience.

Best of luck mate with the job hunting and the positive attitude.

Hmm thats interesting. I am pretty sure my therapist and doc would have been supportive had I known that. Sigh, I dunno. TBH therapy in recent months has been kind of "I need to start engaging with life, don't I" kind of thing, it just would have been nice to have some sort of 'interim' period of easing back in. Problem is in Aberdeen they don't really offer anything like that amd their pathways support is pretty minimal. That was what got me to thinking "just go for it".

TBH the hardest part is going to be getting up and dealing with 'morning feeling' - that feeling of rawness and vulnerability that comes in the morning. Somehow I just have to work with that, try to see that the world hasnt just become the horrible, hostile scary place it feels its become. I think if i can work with that, I am a long way home. Big challenge. How are you finding it? I saw you mention you struggle with that in another post?

try working links, although they are often short staffed they are alot better than the job centre/pathways etc. they have alot of contacts and actua;ly get people jobs they want not just anything. they are also v useful at keeping job centre numpties off your back and they can get grants for returing to work alot quicker than most places, and can do all the fiddley paper work stuff for you. working links will help anyone who has had sickness/disability benefits of any sort, regardless of if the perosn is just looking for a ocuple of hrs of voluntary work or a new career, and they are normally beter trained with regards to mh and the law disability etc

The changes to the system suck. I am very impressed at how positive you are being.

Have they automatically switched you to JSA or do you have to organise a brand new claim? Also, are you still getting DLA? (if you got it at all). The job centre will have a specialist advisor for disabled people and they have schemes to provide support in enabling you to try out working. I don't know current details but its probably worth checking out.

If it doesn't work out for you and you need to make a new ESA claim, there is some excellent advice on a website called benefitsandwork.co.uk set up by a disabled barrister and solicitor. There is a small subscription fee but i've found it to be worth it.

Good luck, and well done stayong so positive.

I've just seen the headline on a newspaper saying "200,000 in Scotland have had their welfare benefit stopped recently. It's terrifying. That many people were not mis-claiming. A stoppage of that enormity proves the goalposts have been moved in a way that is discriminatory. I bet, if someone can get the figures of the health conditions suffered by poeple who lost benefit mental health sufferers will be worst hit.

Glad you are being so positive. I think you are both brave and wise. There is no point in becoming a victim to the governments bullying tactics.

I think that they make up their minds as they go along i really do... i lhate the beauracracy (?) that is attached to the benefit system... Shadowgirl yeah its shocking isn't ? The figures make it out to be that a lot of people are found fit for work, or that theyre a fake claimant .... grrrrrr the system stinks!!!!
