successful_workthru
Our local CMHT are now telling patients that if they want one to one therapy to discuss the past, they have to go private. They have CBT though. Does anyone else live in an area where their CMHT wont do therapy to discuss the past?
lauraw2693
Hey, I haven't been told this exactly but I had C.A.T. twice, they said the only other thing they could offer me is a combined personality disorders programme (you get 1 to 1 but only if you attend groups as well.. which I cannot do). I turned this down for that reason and they said theres nothing else they can offer and my CPN and support worker both strongly advised me to go private, which I have done and it was the best choice I've made in terms of my mental health. Its unbelievable to me how much more time and genuine care a private therapist seems to have (just by my experience - not for a minute saying all private therapists are brilliant or all NHS ones are the opposite..) xxx
