Shadow girl
Hi. A while back someone put a post on about the following book Diary Drawings - mental illness and me by Bobby Baker I looked at the blurb about it and decided to order it. It arrived on Friday and I have never been so moved by a book. It is a series of paintings and sketches done over 11 years as Bobby worked hard to recover from BPD. Because it is so honest It was like taking the lid off my private self, the parts of me I can't explain or show, through simple pictures. I ended up crying with relief at the sense of knowing how I am in private is not just me, and the pressure of holding together the professional, the home and the private self. The inner pain - everything. I showed it my husband and it has helped him understand the weird dynamics I live with because of BPD. I'm going to show it to my CPN next time I see him - I think all MH professionals who support people with BPD should read it and refer to it often.
