Anyone Got A Fast Car?

god, every word of this song means something to me tonight.

i want to get out of here

want someone to rescue me

want to go

want a fantastic man to turn up and take me away

want to do something

want to be someone

"You got a fast car*

I want a ticket to anywhere*

Maybe we can make a deal*

Maybe together we can get somewhere*

Anything is better

Starting from zero got nothing to lose

Maybe we'll make something

But me myself I got nothing to prove

You got a fast car

And I got a plan to get us out of here

I been working at a convenience store

Managed to save just a little bit of money

We won't have to drive too far

Just 'cross the border and into the city

You and I can both get jobs

And finally see what it means to be living

You got a fast car

But is it fast enough so we can fly away

We got to make a decision*

We leave tonight or live and die this way**

I remember when we were driving driving in your car

The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk

City lights lay out before us

And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder*

And I had a feeling that I belonged*

I had a feeling that I could be someone, be someone, be someone"**

I looooove Tracy Chapman. I have everything she has done (which isn't enough!), and I used to have several of her songs picked out to play at my funeral - morbid I know. Last year at this time I was playing her nonstop and felt she had very important things to say to me. I thought she was my best friend. Me 'n Tracy...hmmm.

I'm like that too PInky, and I love that song. Andy and I will be doing that one day soon.... getting in the car and leaving :) Can't wait.

Wow. This song has been a mantra in my head for a long time. It's interesting to see that so many people have felt it resonate with them as well.

Tracy Chapman...that's my girl there. She's very talented, very fresh.

I'd go for your pink floyd. They're amazing! Love brain damage. Have you heard of Breed 77? Don't know if it's just a British thing. Aerosmith? Bon Jovi (hmm posssibly easy listening), Dire Straits? (Def easy listening lol)

Pink Floyd - definately (prefer The Wall though), Breed 77? - am I too old to know who this is? Aerosmith - Definately bon Jovi - no, not into Glamour rock...too much of a pretty boy Dire Straits - I like Sultans of Swing

Lately been listening to Alice in Chains, Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Mettallica...a lot of angry music oh and Pink Floyd when I'm feelin depressed

I don't know it.... you gotta make yourself put some 'bouncy' music on, the sort of music that needs playing loud, to cheer yourself up again :) I'm using Bon Jovi for that tonight
