Improving Self-Worth

To be honest, that was inadvertent use of the word feel.

I've not made any worthwhile progress with it at all.

so, not on a conscious level, but certainly on a sub-conscious level...

(((Bimo))), There are so many wonderful suggestions here and lots of people care for you. There is so much action that we can take to change the way we think and feel, but action we must take or nothing changes.

I understand only too well that change is scarey and sometimes there is also a huge resistance cos at least we are familiar with the old negative ways and In an odd way these are very comforting, though so destructive.

Was just thinking, that sometimes we really have to keep it so simple and just take baby steps, one at a time.

I have a card I carry with me always and everywhere. It was given to me. There are nine suggestions on it. Sometimes i have to look at it with eyes shut and just point, and try to do that suggestion just for the day.

Here they are, Do just one of them every day, can be the same one if you like, but do!

1. Just for today I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle my whole life problem at once. I can do something for 12 hours that would appall me if I felt that I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

2. Just for today I will be happy. Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.

3. Just for today I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my 'luck' as it comes, and fit myself into it.

4.Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind. I will study. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

5. Just for today I will exercise my soul in three ways: I will do somebody and good turn, and not get found out: if anybody knows of it, it will not count. I will do at least two things I don't want to do---just for exercise. I will not show anyone that my feelings are hurt: they maybe hurt, but today I will not show it.

6. Just for today I will be agreeable. I will look as well as i can, dress becomingly, talk low, act courteously, criticize not one bit, not find fault with anything and not try to improve of regulate anybody except myself.

7. Just for today I will have a program. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it. I will save myself from two pests: hurry and indecision.

8. Just for today I will have a quiet half hour all by myself, and relax. During this half hour, sometime, I will try to get a better perspective of my life.

9. Just for today, I will be unafraid. Especially I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful, and to believe that as I give to the world, so the world will give to me.

I hope these will be of help Bimo. They have helped me enormously, and doing just one a day, is simple and manageable. If you don't like the look of one and feel you cant do it on that particular day, choose another one, or as I said. Shut your eyes, point and do what you have pointed at.

I just want to let you all know that i've read and really appreciate all your posts, but I'm at work at the moment using my phone which is making it difficult to reply.

Okay......I've thought of something I'm going to try tomorrow, along the lines of Pickles "just for today" things:

Just for today, when I think of past mistakes I've made, I'm going to forgive myself for them instead of beating myself up over them.

It's got to be worth a shot.

Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm. :)

Just pick yourself up, brush yourself off and try again.

The world keeps going, so should you. Try again.
