ukulele25
Hi everyone - I have my first appointment with my new psychiatrist tomorrow at 2. Her name is Suzie - I'm a little scared as I think she will be alot more probing than the other ones I've seen. But then, on the other hand, this could be a turning point for me - she might be really good. They've talked about me starting a more unconventional type of therapy as I am an odd case. I think they said 'theatre therapy' (actually I think thats wrong - I can't remember now). Cognitive Behavior Therapy was mentioned too - has anyone every had this? Can you explain what it is? haha Anyway wish me luck :)

PandaMonix
the cognatve therapy is great! ironicaly i just started reading into it. my sister brang me a book, on CBT which is cgnata based. heres a great consept i read, ite about changing the way you think eg the typica mind works in A B C A- threat B- cogntal C- our reaction the majority of people decide that A - the threat determens B- the reaction were in reaility B - the cognital, contros C the reaction. it teaches oursef's to change our cognital thoughts. so that when a bad situation happens, our instinct is to say "shit aye" and our outcome is less frantic. and exampe of which bob overtakes fred in a car. fred thinks "what a god dam lunatic" and then feels pissed off. were cognita therapy will teach you bob takes over fred fred thinks "geez that guys in a rush" and you keep driving casually. CBT, is a great therapy fr those who look at ife differenty ( cnsider mysef one) those who think back and white, do you ever find that you analyze what peope do and take offence. eg i notice peoples bdy language towards me, they are not in reization that there being rude, but i know what there thinking towards me. i quite often fee offended. My cognital system controls that outcome of offence. i shoud not take it to heart, atho i strongly belive there being rude. i need to change my cognital instinct. i hope this help's (my keyboard is shit, so there may be a lot og grammar mistakes, also im verry bad at seeping )

ukulele25
thanks mtm Thanks panda too! That was very helpful - I feel alot more at ease now Thanks GrowlyCat too - goodluck with your CBT! I doubt I'll be starting proper therapy tomorrow - she'll probably want to probe me a bit first to get to know me and make me feel comfortable with her. These mental health professionals do this alot I've noticed haha :)
