Medication Affecting Other Areas Of The Brain

I have always been a big believer in medication - if it helps, if it works then take it. It's only 2 seconds from your day to swallow whatever it is.

My thoughts are changing on this, however. I'm worried what other parts of my brain are being affected by my medication. So much so I want to come of it. I won't just stop taking it, I will taper off it with the go ahead from my pdoc. I think I'm ready to start living my life with coping strategies rather than with medication.

It's strange because if you had said to me 2 years ago that I would be saying this I would have laughed at you. I was quite happy being dependent on meds and being dependent on services. I've always had an unhealthy relationship with drugs, both legal and illegal. I would take too many pills to get off my head and I was a drug addict.

What are other peoples thoughts on this? How do you feel about medication?

They say talking therapies are better than meds and their effects last longer... i suppose it depends on your chemistry in your body, everybody is different..????
