Couldn’t help but notice

When you pointed your finger at me

How fucking filthy your hands were

Drenched in the self righteous indignation,

And unwarranted pride of being a sheep

In a machine/mechanism thinking you are ‘awake’

Well you’re not awake if your eyes are willfully blind

Not awake if you completely dismiss my mind

Not awake if you think we’re the same

That you can break my arm and I’ll feel your pain

Not awake if you have to create the beauty

Through unnatural means and artifice

Because you can’t find it in things you

Perceive to be imperfect,

Not realizing that the flaws;

The gnarled knots on trees

the breasts of less than D’s

are already compelling in their creation

already have a place in this confusion

Not awake if you must make the uncertain certain

And hide behind the backstage curtain

Watching the actors play, and directing with outdated script

Without inclination, invitation, or welcomed motivation

Just some backwards notion of helpfulness

And a need for praise

You arrive at the destination,

But you’ve forgotten the journey

Autopilot, dissociation, and schedules

Get from point a

To point b

Don’t talk to strangers

Drown out the sounds

The birds, the wind,

The crackle of the pavement in the sun,

The racket of the trains passing through

Hear only the melody

Repeat repeat

Watch reality go by out the window

Watch it like a movie

And wait for it to come to you

Because you no longer go looking
