Assement

I am guessing you will see a psychiatrist for about 1-2 hours. They will then ask you a lot of questions about your feelings, your symptoms, your habits (sleep, eating, alcohol/drugs), your childhood, your history etc. They then may make a diagnosis, perhaps suggest medication or a change of medication, and perhaps other help (therapy etc). They should give you an opportunity to ask questions and talk about the things that concern you as well.

Data said it right. Thats usually how it goes. Do not expect an immidiate diagnoses that sometimes takes more time and first therapy for a specialist to really get to know you and get an idea about what may be ailing you exactly.

Sometimes they also do some standard tests like an IQ test or depression scale test.

If you want to prepare it might be good to write down for yourself the things you want them to know about your troubles etc.
